About Us

Riverbank Bed and Breakfast sign.

Riverbank Bed and Breakfast, Mid Wales, is situated on the banks of the River Irfon, in the centre of Llanwrtyd Wells - Britain's smallest town, famed for its hosting of unusual sporting events - such as bog-snorkelling and the Man v Horse Marathon. Riverbank Bed and Breakfast was completely renovated in 2020-2, and all rooms have new en-suites.

Each of our rooms is individually styled and furnished, and some have views of the Irfon river - one of which is on the ground floor.

We are a biker friendly bed and breakfast, and we have secure indoor storage for motorbikes and bicycles. We also have two 7.4kW electric vehicle chargers for guests' use.

Denise and Tony are your hosts at Riverbank Bed and Breakfast, and look forward to meeting you. We have lived in Llanwrtyd for many years and can offer plenty of knowledge of local attractions and places to visit, as well as local history and culture. Tony is a volunteer at the Llanwrtyd Heritage and Arts centre - a converted chapel with interactive displays telling the story of the town along with monthly art and craft exhibitions, showcasing local artists' work.

Llanwrtyd Wells is set on the southern edge of the Cambrian Mountains and is popular with walkers and mountain bikers - it is also a Walkers are Welcome town. We are only 20 minutes drive from the Royal Welsh Showground which hosts many events throughout the year, including the Royal Welsh show in July.

We can recommend some stunning scenic drives and this area is popular with classic car, sports car, and motorcycle clubs. There are many interesting towns within an hour's drive, such as Brecon, Hay-on-Wye, Carmarthen and Llandeilo amongst others. Coastal towns such as Aberaeron and New Quay are just over an hour's scenic drive away.
