Llanwrtyd is surrounded by some beautiful scenery such as mountains, and rivers that flow from them. Llanwrtyd is home to some of the best walking paths in Wales, and the paths from Llanwrtyd can take you anywhere from the top of a former volcano to beautiful swimming places.
The area is popular with cyclists with events all year round. Nearby towns such as Builth Wells offer a variety of pubs and restaurants or if you're more interested in history you might like to visit the ruins of the ancient castle of Llewylyn ap Gruffudd (the last true Prince of Wales) in Llandovery. Llanwrtyd has a station on the Heart of Wales line, which can take you to the the historic border town of Shrewsbury to the north, or to the shopping centres of Swansea in the south with plenty of attractive towns in either direction. If you enjoy motorcycling there are many scenic routes to enjoy where you will be able to stop and visit some of the best natural wonders of mid Wales.
